Click Tibet is a news website focusing on issues of the Tibetan Exile community in India. We aim to provide a broader view of the Tibetan experience, beyond that showcased in the media: protesting and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We would like to provide the world at large with a look into the lives of the Tibetan exiles, how Tibetan exiles have formed a life in a new country, what they are doing for themseleves, their community and the greater of humanity. Click Tibet was started in mid 2008 by the Namgyal Audio Visual Archive which in turn is run by Namgyal Monastery, the personal Monastery of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Click Tibet, though, is an independent project from both Namgyal Audio Visual Archive and Namgyal Monastery, our content is not influenced by either of these organizations aims or goals; but as the founders of Click Tibet are members or both of these organizations our beliefs and goals will often fall in line with them.
A major motivation behind Click Tibet is using the project as an educational exercise. The founders of the site are in no way media experts, but we are keen to hone our skills in this area. We believe there is a major gap in the Tibetan exile communities ability to inform the world of our actual existence. Sure, everyone knows about the protests and the Dalai Lama, yet few know about the hundreds of people working to preserve Tibetan culture from artists, performers, historians to religious teachers, and fewer still know about the thousands of students, business owners, employees, mothers, fathers and children whom work daily to create a positive life in exile. Click Tibet hopes to share these stories with the world with our special features on these topics. The features, in video form, are the main goal of Click Tibet, but we urge the viewer to keep in mind this is our first time doing this sort of journalism work, it is as much of a learning process for us as it is a learning opportunity for the viewer.
